About Domain-Name-Registration.co.za

This site started out as a small script I wrote to help myself register .co.za domains, a process, which with a bit of technical knowhow isn't all that difficult (see my article How to register a .co.za domain manually). It's the type of process that asks to be automated.

In October 2010 I decided to make the script's functionality publicly available through this site by adding support for multiple users (login/logout), integrating the domain availability checker and building the DNS Manager. The script has turned into a small system comprising of the webserver, two nameservers and a bunch of other small services. Since October several hundred users have registered their domains here and by now many thousands of DNS queries are answered reliably every day.

The goal was (and is) to make .co.za domain registrations easy and affordable for everyone and to share knowledge.
